So, how many pairs of boots does it take to hike the Appalachian Trail? In my case it was three. After 1,000+ miles (1,610+ km), my feet swelled a full size and out of my first pair of boots. The soles on the second pair (on the right in the picture) completely wore out. boots.jpg (Jun. 30, 1997)
